From the Abruzzese Federation of Boston, Usa

To Valeria De Cecco, Editor of Abruzzo-Italia and to all those who work on the magazine go our warmest wishes for continued success in the future.

We remember fondly our past meetings when Abruzzo-Italia was just an idea which Valeria saw as an already living and realized goal.  Her dream has now become reality and we are grateful to her for her quiet but tireless work which she performs like the proverbial ant (we hope you will accept the simile with your usual good grace) who, bringing together grain upon grain of information, contacts and ceaseless research, has created this magazine for the Abruzzesi of the world.

It is the embodiment of the past and present history which we all live abroad, an act of love born out of the needs of those who left Italy in search of a better future for themselves and for their children and from those who believe that these stories are a testament of faith in one’s own abilities and in one’s own rootedness.

We hope that Abruzzo-Italia will continue to fulfill its mission and that, above all, it can be a point of reference for those who “not believing that they know everything” can humbly really get to know those who left Abruzzo, taking “the best” out of the regional borders and those of Italy with them; those who with tenacity used what they had brought with them to win a place in the sun for themselves and show that through perseverance and hard work it is possible to become citizens of the world and still remain Abruzzesi at heart.
